It's 1940, and Hollywood radio station KWEE's biggest hit is the soap opera "Life in Barker's Corners," the story of a powerful family cattle feed empire. As the actors assemble to perform tonight's episode, they learn that the show has mysteriously gotten the axe. But before they can leave the studio, well-known mobster Monty Navoli enters. He has his own reasons for keeping tonight's installment on the episode that has no script. Now the six actors must ad lib their way through an entire story—at gunpoint! Stage fright, misplaced sound effects, a soused lead actress, a character who keeps returning from the dead and other disasters befall the troupe, who must give the performance of their lives...or else
